I'm a Math major, and my academic advisor is David Perkinson. During the 09-10 school year, I'll be writing a year-long thesis and taking Topics in Algebra, Topics in Analysis, Introductory German, and Economics of Reed College. While at Reed I've also taken three semesters of Chemistry, a year each of Humanities and Physics, a year of Music Theory, and Introductory Economics. I sing in both the Choir and the Collegium Musicum. I hope to eventually attend graduate school in Mathematics.
During the summer of 2008, I attended the Carleton College Summer Mathematics Program for Women Undergraduates in Northfield, MN. As part of our Topology class there, Jennifer Townsend (Scripps College) and I put together this short talk on some of the theory behind rational tangles. During summer 2009, I participated in the Willamette Valley Consortium REU-RET program, working on variations on the combinatorial game Odd Wins.
I'm on the Reed tutor list for Math 111 (Calculus), 112 (Intro to Analysis), and 211/212 (Multivariable). I also tutor at the Math Center.
